The sand between your pavers is not filler. It is what transfers load from one unit to the next and makes the whole surface act as a single interlocking field. When those joints wash out, individual pavers start to rock, edges begin to creep, weeds move in, and ants get a place to live.

Refreshing joint sand is one of the least expensive things you can do for a paver surface and one of the highest returns. We clean the joints out, install polymeric sand to full depth, compact and settle it, then activate it so it hardens into a flexible, weed-resistant joint that stays where you put it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Look for joints that sit noticeably below the paver surface, sand you can scrape out with a fingertip, weeds growing between units, ant hills on the surface, or pavers that move slightly when you step on them.

It is jointing sand with binders mixed in. Once activated with water it sets into a firm but slightly flexible joint that resists washout and weed growth far better than plain sand, while still allowing the pavement to flex.

It rarely works. If the joints are contaminated with organic debris the new sand will not bond properly and you will be doing it again next year. Cleaning the joint out first is what makes the repair last.

It stops weeds germinating from within the joint, which is the majority of them. Seeds that blow in and root in surface debris can still sprout, which is why an annual sweep and rinse helps.

Most patios and walkways are a one-day job. Larger driveways or areas needing heavy joint cleanout may take two.
