Full Backyard Reset with Aeration Overseeding and Lawn Releveling

Some backyards need more than a mow and a prayer. This one came to us with compacted soil, uneven grade, a problem garden bed where grass just refused to grow, and a lawn that had seen better days. The kind of yard where you know Band-Aid fixes won't cut it. So we didn't do Band-Aid fixes.

We started from scratch - full spring cleanup, dethatching, lawn aeration, and releveling with 8 yards of topsoil to get the grade right before anything else happened. That foundation work is the part most people skip, and it's also the reason most overseeding jobs fail. If the soil is compacted and the grade is off, seed doesn't stand a chance.

Once the ground was prepped and aerated, we put down 75 pounds of grass seed across the entire backyard, covered it with straw netting to hold everything in place, and set up an automatic sprinkler system so the customer doesn't have to think about hand-watering every day. That last part matters more than people realize - consistent moisture is what turns seed into turf, and leaving it to chance almost always means patchy results.

We also tackled a garden bed that had been a problem area for years. Weed fabric, snap edging, and 1 to 1.5 inch river rock went in to create a clean, low-maintenance border that looks sharp and stays that way. No more fighting grass that won't grow there anyway.
