This one came to us last season in rough shape. The grass had grown over a foot tall and the beds were overrun - the kind of neglect that builds up when a previous crew drops the ball or a homeowner just runs out of time. Getting a property like this back under control takes more than a quick mow. It takes a plan.
We started with a full spring cleanup - clearing out pine needles, leaves, and the debris that had settled in over winter. Dead branches were removed from the trees throughout the property, and the invasive weeds that had worked their way in between the birch trees got pulled out completely. The beds around the tree rings are now clean and defined again, which makes a huge difference in how the whole property reads from the street.
Shrub pruning was part of the scope too. The evergreen shrubs near the tree line got shaped back into clean, manageable forms. When shrubs go untouched for a full season, they start to look like they belong to a different property entirely. Getting them back to a controlled size and shape is one of those details that doesn't always get noticed - but everyone notices when it's missing.
Now the lawn is fully prepped and ready for its first cut. That's how a proper spring cleanup is supposed to work - you're not just tidying up, you're setting the lawn up to perform well all season. A clean start means cleaner cuts, healthier turf, and fewer headaches down the road. This customer is now on our weekly schedule, which means it stays this way.
Properties like this are exactly why we take a detail-first approach on every visit, not just the first one. Whether it's weeding around the beds, keeping the tree rings tidy, or making sure the shrubs stay shaped - the small stuff adds up. And when it's done consistently, the property shows it.
