A Smooth Lawn You Can Actually Walk and Mow

Bumpy, rutted, uneven lawns are more than a cosmetic annoyance. They scalp when you mow, hold water in every low spot, twist ankles, and make the whole property look neglected no matter how well the grass is fed.

The causes vary. Settled fill from construction, old stump holes, collapsed animal tunnels, tire ruts from equipment, and years of freeze-thaw all leave a surface that no amount of mowing will fix. We identify the cause, cut down the high spots, fill and compact the low ones, establish proper slope, and finish with sod or seed so the lawn grows back level.

Fixed at the Soil Level

More Than Just Topdressing

Throwing topsoil on a bumpy lawn hides it for one season and then it comes right back.

Identify the Cause

Settling, ruts, old stumps, or drainage issues diagnosed before we start moving soil.

Cut the High Spots

Mounds and ridges removed rather than buried, so the fix is permanent.

Fill and Compact

Low areas filled in lifts with proper soil and compacted so they do not resettle.

Slope and Finish

Consistent slope established and the surface finish-raked to a clean, mowable grade.

Residential and Commercial Applications

Common Leveling Situations

Post-Construction Settling

Backfill around new homes and additions that has settled unevenly over a few seasons.

Equipment Ruts

Deep ruts from delivery trucks, contractors, or heavy mowing during wet conditions.

Old Stump and Tunnel Holes

Collapsed voids from removed trees and animal tunnels filled and stabilized.

Low Spots That Hold Water

Standing-water depressions raised and re-sloped so they drain.

Frequently Asked Questions

For minor unevenness we can often work with the existing turf using topdressing and targeted fill. Anything significant means disturbing the turf in those areas, which we restore with sod or seed.

Sod areas look finished immediately and knit in within a few weeks. Seeded areas typically need one full growing season to blend fully with the surrounding lawn.

Usually a mix of settling fill, freeze-thaw heaving, earthworm and animal activity, mowing on saturated ground, and old organic material breaking down below the surface.

They overlap. Leveling focuses on smoothing the surface so it is even and mowable. Grading focuses on establishing slope so water moves where you want it. Most projects need a bit of both, and we handle them together.

Yes when the job requires it. Sometimes we can balance cut and fill on site, which saves you hauling costs, and we will tell you which applies to your property.
